2 Homemade Fertilizers for Plants to Bear Fruit
When we use fertilizers in our garden or pati , what we do is supply nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen to the soil so that the plants grow properly and have higher yields .
Within the fertilizers we have chemicals , which are made artificially. Although they provide the necessary nutrients, their intensive or disorderly use can have negative consequences for the soil and plants .
Another variant of fertilizers are organic . These have the advantage of being composed of natural elements , so they are ecological , and also cheap .
Here’s how to make 2 organic fertilizers that make your plants bear lots of fruit.
Banana Peel Fertilizer
We can identify the lack of potassium in plants when the leaves look yellow or begin to curl . This fertilizer provides the necessary nutrients so that the leaves and fruits retain their natural color.
The ingredients we need are 5 banana peels , 1 and 1/2 liters of water , 1 medium pot and 1 bottle .
The first thing we have to do is cut the banana peels into small pieces . Then we pour the water into the saucepan , add the pieces of peel and place the saucepan over medium heat for 15 minutes , or until we see that the water has turned brown due to the effect of the banana peels.
Turn off the heat and let the liquid cool down . Then, we transfer the content to the bottle .
When we want to use it, we have to make a ratio of one part of fertilizer to 5 parts of water . We apply the infusion once a week . And when the plants are in bloom , we can use the fertilizer directly , every 15 days.
Another way to use this fertilizer is to bury a few pieces of husk in the potting soil . These will provide magnesium , potassium and other nutrients .
An advantage of this liquid fertilizer is that the possibility of an overdose is very low , because it degrades progressively . A disadvantage is that its shelf life is not long.
Eggshell-based fertilizer
For this we need 5 or 6 shells , 2 liters of water , blender , 1 spoon , 1 medium pot and 1 bottle.
Put the eggshells in the blender and blend them for a few minutes . With the spoon we stir a little to lift the pieces of shell that have been larger , and we grind again until a powder remains . If you don’t have a blender, you can grind the shells in a mortar. The smaller it is , the easier it is for it to break down in the ground .
As with the banana peel , we are going to make an infusion with the eggshells . Pour the water into the pot and add the shells . Once it breaks the boil, we leave it for 5 more minutes . Turn off the heat and let the infusion cool down .
We fill the bottle with the liquid and it is ready to fertilize the soil . We can pour a little of the infusion when we do the irrigation. Eggshells will add magnesium , potassium, and phosphorus to the soil .
