Did you know that in just one gram of dust there can be up to 40,000 mites? That’s what a survey by Unicamp found.
According to the researchers, 100 mites per gram of dust is enough to trigger allergic and respiratory crises in children and adults.
And do you know the favorite place of these distant relatives of the tick? The mattress!
That’s right, the highest concentrations of mites were collected from domestic mattresses.
The contact of mites with the lining of the nose and throat causes irritation, itching, sneezing and a runny nose.
If the mites come into contact with the lung, the symptoms can be more serious, even causing the development of diseases such as asthma and bronchitis.
Unfortunately, it is practically impossible to wipe out the entire population of mites from a mattress, as they develop and multiply very quickly.
But it is possible to control these small animals by keeping them in low numbers and thus getting rid of respiratory and skin allergies.
Do you think it’s over? Although dust mites are the main problem with a mattress, there are other aggravating factors.
This is the case with fungi that cause mold and mildew, as well as stains that can cause unpleasant smells.
So let’s roll up those sleeves and start cleaning your mattress.
