Boy with autism builds the best replica of Titanic using only Lego pieces
Have you ever seen such a perfect replica of the Titanic? If your answer is no, then in this article we will show it to you.
This is possibly the largest replica of the Titanic, which has been built in just over 11 months or we could say that it has invested 700 hours. This magnificent work has been created by Brynjar Karl Bigisson from Reykjavik in Iceland, who is only 10 years old and autistic.
The young man, who is now 15 years old, built the replica with 56,000 Lego pieces. This is 8 meters long and 1.5 high.
Brynjar commented that from the age of 5 he started playing with Legos and spent hours building anything.
“Sometimes I’ve relied on instruction manuals to build and other times I’ve just used my imagination”, said Brynjar.
For a time his greatest passion was trains but it was when his grandfather took him to weigh in a ship, when it ended up monopolizing all his interest, at that time he was 10 years old and he knew enough about the Titanic.
“When I first traveled with my mom to Legoland in Denmark and looked at all these amazing model planes, ships and houses for the first time, I started thinking about my own Lego model. Then the idea came to me to build a model of the Titanic from Legos”, added the young man.
This was a somewhat family project because he had the help of grandfather Ogmundsson, who is an engineer, and the young man’s mother. The grandfather reduced the original model of the Titanic to Lego size, he also helped his grandson figure out the exact number of Lego pieces that would be needed.
“If I hadn’t been supported, I would never have been able to make my dream come true “, Brynjar said.
Some family and friends made donations to him so that he could buy the necessary parts to create the model.
The young man comments that he managed to embrace his autism through the construction of this replica of the most famous ship in the world.
At first he says that he had trouble communicating, which made him feel disappointed and lonely, however, now he has more confidence in himself and has even started giving interviews about the process of this wonderful build.
“When I started this project, there was a support teacher at school who helped me with all the activities and homework, but now I can study without any support. My grades have improved and now I have made friends with several classmates. I’ve had the opportunity to travel, explore and meet amazing people “, Brynjar concluded.
The young man’s mother commented that at first she had no idea what the future of her son with autism would look like and she worried about all the obstacles that he could face. She is now very happy to be able to share with parents of other children with autism that it is possible to get ahead and make dreams come true.
“Provide help to your son when he wants to fulfill a mission, a dream or a goal and you see him crazy about him. Listen carefully and try to find ways to support and help him. It can become the best investment you make for him, “said the young man’s mother.
What do you think of this fabulous replica? A lot of work, effort and creativity invested, don’t you think?
