A billionaire has spent 2 decades building a gigantic replica of Noah’s Ark and has finally finished it. This is what it looks like inside
Johan Huibers is a passionate carpenter. He built Noah’s ark, as well as these life-size wooden animals, in the city of Dordrecht, Netherlands. The work took him twenty years to complete, and he spent more than $1.5 million to get it done . It has become something of a tourist attraction since Johan finished it.
Johan recently revealed the next stage of his Noah’s Ark project. He is planning to sail the ark to Israel. Of course, setting sail is not going to be easy. Johan hopes to raise a good amount of money through donations in order to finance the trip.
Johan is a devout Christian, and has read and reread the Bible from cover to cover. He wants to bring this version of the ark from the Bible to the land where it was conceived. The main problem that Johan faces for such a trip is the fact that his ark has no engines or sails.
To make a trip, you need to hire tugboats to pull the ark. He estimates it will cost at least $1.3 million. Johan told a reporter that he wants to visit Israel because he loves the land, the country and its people.
To this day, Johan’s creation is hugely popular with tourists, drawing hundreds of thousands of people to see his massive masterpiece. It measures more than 91 meters long, and five stories high.
He built the ark to show people that God really exists. He wanted to give children the chance to see and feel the ark . Another reason he built the ark is to show people that things are changing.
As global warming continues , sea levels will continue to rise. There will continue to be more devastating fires. It is a tool to educate. Johan’s original goal was to bring the ark to Brazil, in time for the 2018 Olympics in Rio. His fundraising was not enough. Maybe now you can make your trip.
