The trick of aspirin in the washing machine to remove the yellow color from clothes
Acetylsalicylic acid or, as it is more popularly known, aspirin is one of the most famous drugs in the world, whose properties have been used for generations.
The formula for aspirin, as we know it today, was developed by Félix Hoffmann in 1897, although there is evidence that white willow bark (where this medicine originally comes from) was already used as early as 1000 BC by the Chinese and Sumerian society.
But in addition to its pharmacological uses (anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic), the famous white pill has an amazing effect on clothes, with amazing cleaning power. It is capable of removing even those yellowish stains that appear on light-colored clothes after being stored in the closet for a while, or sweat stains, which become more pronounced over time.
As you well know, many white garments end up losing their original whiteness, becoming increasingly gray wash after wash. Either way, aspirin is presented as the ultimate solution to this problem:
Take 5 aspirin tablets, or 325 mg, and let them dissolve in 2 liters of hot water. If you prefer, you can break them to dissolve more quickly.
Once you have it, put the yellowish clothes in the solution and let them soak for 8 hours, or overnight.
Make sure all clothing is completely submerged in the water.
Another technique is to put the aspirin pills directly into the washing machine with the clothes, although I’ll warn you that dissolving them beforehand is more effective.
After 8 hours, wash the clothes normally in the washing machine. In addition to restoring whiteness to garments, aspirin works to combat the most difficult stains to remove.
However, to remove blood stains it is necessary to dissolve the aspirin in cold water before soaking the stained garments for 2 hours.
Do not try to remove blood with hot water, as the proteins bind together making the stain even more resistant. In any case, another infallible method to remove blood stains is by applying hydrogen peroxide or, as it is commonly known, hydrogen peroxide on them.
Aspirin contains a weak acid with great effects, so there is no need to buy expensive special products, as long as you have a box in the medicine cabinet.
