Rules all men should know on how to dress well
Some rules in life are here to help, like the ones that teach you how to dress well. These “rules” tend to be founded in history, they worked for generations and might work well today too. Some of these you might have already discovered for yourself.
#1: Wear a suit well
The secret to a suit looking good is fit. It has to be fit across the shoulders. Classic is best, dark, two-button, single-breasted and moderate in details.
#2: Invest in a watch
A watch has to fit you. It has to be comfortable and right in terms of size to your wrist. “A watch is like a piece of art”, says Don Cochrane, managing director of Vertex.
#3: Your appearance is important
Take care of your clothes, wash them regularly, keep them on wooden hangers, polish your shoes, brush your hair and cut your nails. Details are the most important in anyone’s appearance.
#4: Buy simple underwear
If we talk about men’s underwear, there are two rules. One, prints are not for grown men and two, heavily-branded is not sophisticated. The most recommended underwear is the cotton boxer short, your skin will breathe well and they are also comfortable and friendly with your skin.
#5: Invest in shoes
Quality shoes are the kind that should last for some years. Choose classic styles such as brogues, loafers, or a plain, dark, five-eyelet Derby on a round-toe last.
#6: Accessorize minimum
Accessories like ties bring style to a classic outfit, but be careful how you use them. And don’t overdo the accessories either, if in doubt, think less is more and remove one element.
#7: Sunglasses
Buy what you feel good in, taking into account your face shape, but also consider the top line of the frames’ relation to your eyebrow shape.
