Ingredients
- 500 grams of Oats
- 1 Packet of Water Crackers
- 2 tablespoons of Sugar
- 625 ml of Whole Milk
- 2 tablespoons of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 50 grams of Cocoa Powder
Optional
- 1 packet of Chocolate for coating
- Chopped Peanuts or Walnuts to taste
- Assorted Nuts to taste
- 1 teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
- Shredded Coconut to taste
Instructions
- Begin by taking 125 ml of the milk and set the rest aside. Add the cocoa, oats, sugar, and tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk to the 125 ml of milk. Mix thoroughly.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat and continue stirring until the oats are cooked, which should take approximately 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and add cinnamon, shredded coconut, nuts, chopped walnuts, or peanuts, according to your preference. Set aside.
- In another pot, heat the remaining milk until it reaches a boil. Once it boils, let it cool until it becomes lukewarm. Then, transfer it to a separate container.
- Prepare the mold you will use for the turrón. Now, take the oat mixture and create a thin layer at the bottom of the mold to serve as the base.
- In the container with lukewarm milk, soak the water crackers. They should not absorb too much milk, just a quick dip to maintain their crispy texture, as this will provide firmness to our turrón. Arrange the crackers on top of the oat layer, forming a layer of crackers.
- Once you’ve placed all the crackers, add another layer of oats on top.
- Repeat the process until the mold is filled, ensuring that the final layer is oats.
- Finish by coating it with a layer of chocolate and sprinkle shredded coconut or your choice of nuts on top.
- Finally, refrigerate for at least an hour. Keep in mind that the longer it stays in the fridge, the firmer it will become.
- Afterward, carefully remove it from the mold, and you’re ready to indulge in this delicious dessert!
Give this unique and nutritious Oat Turrón recipe a try, and you’ll be amazed at how satisfying and delightful it is. Your taste buds will thank you, and your family and friends will be asking for more. Enjoy!
