How to make homemade glycerin soaps
Homemade glycerin soaps, excellent recipe on how to transform oil and alcohol into glycerin soaps. Very efficient and high quality for whitening clothes, among other things.
It is a combination of ingredients that we have at home:
Ingredients
- 4 liters of tallow or melted fat
- 3 liters of used cooking oil
- 4 liters of Alcohol (ethanol without additives)
- 1kg of Caustic Soda is flakes (diluted in 3 liters of water)
- 1kg Sugar (diluted in 1 liter of water)
- 80 grams of sodium bicarbonate in 150 ml. of water
- 1 liter of neutral detergent (transparent)
Procedure, step by step
- To begin with, in a bucket we add 4 liters of alcohol, used cooking oil and the melted tallow, while we are stirring everything. The recommendation is to previously strain the used oil, at least 2 times in a strainer to keep it very clean, remember the second time by adding a clean cloth over the strainer.
- Next step, we add the caustic soda dissolved in 3 liters of water. But it is suggested to dissolve it half an hour before starting the preparation, in this way we will have it ready when adding it to the soap.
- Then, we dissolve the baking soda in water and reserve. We do the same with the kilo of sugar dissolved in 1 liter of water until it is completely dissolved and reserve.
- We continue with the procedure, it is time to add the caustic soda little by little and carefully, always stirring with security measures.
- While we do this we will observe that the soap begins to foam, we will even notice that the color of the soap changes and becomes more intense like Coca-Cola.
- Next step, it is time to add the glycerin, we refer to the sugar diluted in water that we have reserved. When we integrate it we will see how it changes color, we continue stirring and let it rest for a minute and then continue until the recipe is enhanced.
- Next, we add the liter of transparent detergent (it can be a cheap brand). We add it little by little while we mix until we reach a homogeneous texture.
- To finish, we add the baking soda and stir until we achieve a well-dissolved and uniform mixture.
- Finally, we already have the soap ready, it only remains to choose the mold or the forms where to pour it to leave it overnight. The recommendation is 12 to 14 hours until it dries and thus be able to cut it.
- As a last point, when pouring the soap into the mold, we are going to spray the alcohol to reduce the white foam. The next day, just take it out of the mold, cut it and that’s it.
