Did you know that strict mothers have more successful children?
Why have you left everything lying around?
Immediately pick up all your clothes!; Tidy up your room right now and do your homework!; Focus on your future!… It’s proven: the strictest mothers have very successful children.
If you are one of those annoying mothers, who are continually on top of their children to check that everything is going according to plan, don’t worry! You are doing an excellent job, and we assure you that in a couple of years your son will thank you.
Why do strict mothers have successful children?
Ericka Rascon, a researcher at the University of Essex, has led a study which ensures that heavy mothers have successful children, or what is the same, that every successful person has a demanding mother behind her.
This research was commissioned to analyze surveys of 15,000 children between 13 and 14 years old from 2004 to 2010.
In a briefing Rascon affirmed the fact that ” the measure of expectations in this study reflects a combination of aspirations and beliefs about the probability of accessing higher education declared by the majority of parents, in most of the cases: the mother”.
All those children of mothers with high expectations of them are much more confident and secure when following their plans in their adulthood. For example, it has been shown that daughters of persistent and fastidious mothers have a less than 4% chance of becoming pregnant, compared to daughters of mothers not so demanding.
Children of persistent mothers are also much more likely to go to college and graduate.
It is a disconcerting fact for some, but true: heavy mothers have successful children.
« In many cases we succeed in doing what we think is best for us, even if it is against our parents. But no matter how hard we try to avoid our parents’ recommendations, they somehow influence, however subtly, the decisions we make, even if we believe them to be extremely personal ,” Ericka tells us.
It is very likely that at the stage of adolescence your children consider you their greatest enemy for being too demanding before them.
However, we assure you that as soon as they begin to enter their adult stage of life, they will recognize and appreciate all the efforts you have made for them, so it is important that right now you do not give your arm to twist and be firm enough and persistent when educating your children.
